Rare 1941 Nan’yō Kōhatsu 20th Anniversary History Book

$150.00Price

A rare Japanese commemorative company history book issued in December 1941 for the 20th anniversary of Nan’yō Kōhatsu Kabushiki Kaisha, also known as the South Seas Development Company. The Japanese title, 南洋興発株式会社二十周年, reads Nan’yō Kōhatsu Kabushiki Kaisha Nijūshūnen and translates to “Nan’yō Kōhatsu Company 20th Anniversary.”

Published directly by Nan’yō Kōhatsu, this volume relates to one of Japan’s major colonial development enterprises in the South Seas Mandate. The company is often compared to the South Manchuria Railway Company in terms of its role as a major state-linked economic and development organization, making this a desirable reference piece for collectors of Japanese WWII, Pacific War, colonial administration, and South Seas Mandate material.

The book retains its distinctive period cover design with Japanese text and commemorative 20th anniversary presentation. An uncommon and historically significant publication tied directly to Japanese expansion and economic administration in the Pacific.
